Description

SUMMARY:

The Field Services Assistant to support both our cutting-edge drone operations and traditional agricultural fieldwork. This hybrid position will include working in technology, hands-on tasks, and also outdoor work. You'll assist with drone missions, tractor operation, irrigation maintenance, and other vital field duties across our orchards. This will include drone pilot training and other training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as a Visual Observer during drone flights, maintaining a line of sight and clear communication with the pilot
Assist in drone spray missions: loading chemicals, deploying safety signage, and swapping batteries
Help operate and maintain aerial imaging drones used for crop surveys and mapping.
Support pre- and post-flight procedures, clean equipment, and help with data capture and reporting
Receive training to advance toward FAA Part 107 drone pilot certification
Drive the company truck and the drone platform setup to and from spray/survey sites as needed
Operate tractors and attached implements for disking, mowing, spraying, and general orchard care
Perform pre-operation checks and help maintain farm machinery in good working order
Mix and apply fertilizers and pesticides, following all safety and compliance procedures
Light maintenance of any equipment used
Maintain irrigation systems, including turning off all the valves, regulating pressures, flushing and cleaning sprinklers and filters
Assist with weed and pest control, frost protection, and minor pipe repair
Operates tractors and attached implements for disking, mowing, spraying, and general orchard care
Perform all other duties as directed by Management
Repair damaged hoses and small PVC pipes
Must comply with all Safety and Food Safety rules and regulations
Perform all other duties as directed by the Ranch Foreman or Management

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; must be familiar with the techniques of properly using irrigation equipment, weed control, and tractor; experience in agriculture, drone operations, or equipment handling; FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or willingness to earn one; must have valid drivers license and maintain clean driving record

SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Must have good communication skills; preferred fluent in English and Spanish; must be able to prioritize tasks; have the ability to operate an ATV; basic mathematical skills; preferred to have interest in aerial imaging or precision agriculture
