Position Title: Drone Pilot (UAS Operator)
Department: Field Operations / Aerial Services
Reports To: Operations Manager / Project Supervisor
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Drone Pilot (Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operator) to operate drones for aerial data collection, inspections, photography, videography, and surveying. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of UAS systems, FAA Part 107 certification, and the ability to plan and execute missions while complying with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate drones (UAS) for aerial imaging, mapping, inspections, and videography.
Conduct pre-flight planning, equipment inspections, and airspace reviews to ensure safe operations.
Maintain compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations and company safety protocols.
Capture high-quality aerial imagery, video, or LiDAR/thermal data as required by project needs.
Perform post-flight maintenance and troubleshooting of UAS equipment.
Log flight hours, mission details, and maintenance reports.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, or clients to deliver accurate aerial data.
Monitor weather, airspace restrictions, and mission risks before and during operations.
Ensure confidentiality and security of all captured data.
Qualifications
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (required).
Proven experience in drone flight operations (photography, mapping, inspection, or related fields).
Knowledge of airspace classifications, NOTAMs, TFRs, and aviation safety protocols.
Familiarity with drones such as DJI Matrice, Mavic, or similar professional platforms.
Ability to interpret aerial maps, survey data, or GIS outputs (preferred).
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and situational awareness.
Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions and environments.
Preferred Skills
Experience with thermal imaging, photogrammetry, LiDAR, or 3D modeling software.
Background in industries such as construction, public safety, utilities, agriculture, or cinematography.
Knowledge of data processing tools (Pix4D, DroneDeploy, ArcGIS, Adobe Suite).
Work Environment
Field-based role requiring travel to job sites.
Outdoor work in varying weather and terrain conditions.
