Job Summary
We are looking for a Plant Health Specialist & Drone Operator to oversee plant care and leverage drone technology for monitoring and treatment applications. This hybrid role combines hands-on plant health management with aerial data collection and spraying to ensure the vitality of our nursery stock. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and passionate about sustainable agriculture.
Key Responsibilities
· Apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers to nursery plants using both traditional methods and drone-based spraying systems.
· Monitor plant health, identifying pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies through visual inspections and drone-collected data.
· Operate drones for aerial monitoring, capturing imagery and multispectral data to assess crop conditions and inform management decisions.
· Maintain and calibrate spraying equipment and drones to ensure accurate and safe application of treatments.
· Develop and implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, integrating drone data and ground-based observations.
· Keep accurate records of treatments, drone flights, and data analysis for compliance and operational efficiency.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including FAA Part 107 requirements and pesticide application guidelines.
· Collaborate with the nursery team to optimize plant care and operational workflows.
· Assist in starting an insectary for beneficial plant insects.
Qualifications
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, plant science, agriculture, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
· Valid pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one within [insert timeframe, e.g., 3 months].
· FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or ability to obtain one within [insert timeframe, e.g., 3 months].
· 1-2 years of experience in plant health management, nursery operations, or drone operations (agricultural experience preferred).
· Knowledge of plant pests, diseases, and treatment methods, with familiarity in IPM principles.
· Proficiency with drone software, GIS tools, or data analysis platforms is a plus.
· Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety protocols.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Pay: $25.00 - $41.00 per hour
